The purpose of this CXTech Week 40 2021 newsletter is to highlight, with commentary, some of the news stories in CXTech this week. What is CXTech? The C stands for Connectivity, Communications, Collaboration, Conversation, Customer; X for Experience because that’s what matters; and Tech because the focus is enablers.

TADSummit EMEA Americas is Next Month
TADSummit is the event for programmable communications since 2013. All presentations, workshops, and panel discussions will be given during the month of November 2021, with one workshop in December to coincide with a product launch; we might as well take advantage of the online format somehow! The draft agenda is available here, and will be continuously updated.

We’re going to be virtual again (prolonged pandemic) with a mixture of live and pre-recorded sessions. We plan on 10-11th Nov being the core of the live sessions running from 3-5PM CET / 9-11 ET for the keynotes. One keynote presenter will be travelling on those dates, so we’ll finalize the dates soon (again, as its virtual, let’s take advantage of it). Streaming more popular than pay TV in UK claims report
A new study into UK consumer TV viewing behaviour has found that Brits prefer streaming content over pay TV.
The report, carried out by National Research Group on behalf of Roku, found that nine in 10 survey respondents are TV streamers versus only seven in 10 who use traditional pay TV services.
In the UK the BBC is not saturated with commercials, like TV in the US, so this data point shows it’s the content and convenience of consumption. Trying to get everyone in one room to watch a show together on broadcast TV can only be described as the most frustrating way to start to show.
With streaming you can waiting until everyone is seated and then go through the checklist. Everyone settled? Got your phone / tablet? Got your snacks / drinks? Anyone need to pee before I press play?
And even given the exclusive Sport content on PayTV, sports viewing is now almost as popular on streaming services, with 51% of respondents watching sport via streaming versus 55% on pay TV.

Most people know my views on Facebook, just stop using it. It’s bad for your mental health. And ‘regulation’ is not going to change that. The people, processes and technology will not change the negative outcomes.
Here’s the list of current Tik Tok school challenges:
- August- Sleep in and be late
- September – Mess up a toilet/vandalize the restroom at school
- October – Smack a staff member on the backside
- November – Kiss your friend’s girlfriend at school
- December – “Deck the halls and show your b*b” in school
- January – Jab a breast
- February – Mess up school signs
- March – Make a mess in the courtyard or cafeteria
- April – Grab some “eggs” (This is another theft challenge)
- May – Ditch Day
- June – Flip off the front office
- July – Spray a neighbor fence
Given its owned by ByteDance (a Chinese company) I’m surprised Congress has not banned it, there is an ongoing investigation, at least India has banned it.
Stop your children using it along with Facebook’s properties. Both are net-negative, have them set up their own Matrix server with their friends, or private Discord server. Let them learn about the power of decentralized services amongst their friends, and controlling access to their information.
Syniverse quietly admits it was hacked for five years
It buried deep in the Preliminary Proxy Statement:
“in May 2021, Syniverse became aware of unauthorized access”
“The results of the investigation revealed that the unauthorized access began in May 2016. Syniverse’s investigation revealed that the individual or organization gained unauthorized access to databases within its network on several occasions, and that login information allowing access to or from its Electronic Data Transfer (“EDT”) environment was compromised for approximately 235 of its customers. All EDT customers have been notified and have had their credentials reset or inactivated, even if their credentials were not impacted by the incident. All customers whose credentials were impacted have been notified of that circumstance.”
