CXTech Week 15 2022 News and Analysis

The purpose of this CXTech Week 15 2022 newsletter is to highlight, with commentary, some of the news stories in CXTech this week. What is CXTech?  The C stands for Connectivity, Communications, Collaboration, Conversation, Customer; X for Experience because that’s what matters; and Tech because the focus is enablers.

You can sign up here to receive the CXTech News and Analysis by email. Please forward this on if you think someone should join the list. And please let me know any CXTech news I should include.

Covered this week:

  • Exploiting CVE-2022-0778, a bug in OpenSSL vis-à-vis WebRTC platforms
  • Why Investors Are Piling into African Startups
  • Conner Luzier – seeking full-time or project work in programmable comms / WebRTC
  • People, Gossip, and Frivolous Stuff

Exploiting CVE-2022-0778, a bug in OpenSSL vis-à-vis WebRTC platforms

We covered this exploit when we reviewed the March RTCSec newsletter. The OpenSSL advisory issued on 15th March explains how the vulnerability that was fixed has to do with abuse of the BN_mod_sqrt() function that causes it to loop forever for non-prime moduli.

Essentially a denial of service, as you have to update to the latest version of OpenSSL and then restart the server. As we saw last year, CXTech Week 51 2021, DDoS hits real time services hard. You can not come back later as you would to a website, you need that call to work now. As Sandro Gauci highlights, for RTC services this exploit is critical, while for OpenSSL it was rated moderate.

Why Investors Are Piling into African Startups

Last week we announced TADHack Global 2022. TADHack South Africa remains the largest TADHack location, thanks to the amazing work of MTN South Africa. African startups raised a record $5 billion in 2021, check out this Bloomberg Quicktake, below.

Conner Luzier – seeking full-time or project work in programmable comms / WebRTC

Conner Luzier is a TADHack regular. Check out his hacks from TADHack-mini Orlando in 2018, 2019, and 2020. He’s also presented at Enterprise Connect several times, how many soon to be graduates have such industry exposure!

He’s looking for work, ideally full-time, but is happy for project work to build his references in the industry. Conner has shown his abilities and get-up-and-go time and again at TADHack. So please get in contact with Conner, thank you.
